Overview

Men experience a disproportionate burden of urologic and reproductive health conditions, making men's health an important area of clinical practice for primary care providers and other healthcare professionals. Rapid advances in screening, diagnostics, medications, imaging, and treatment options continue to reshape the management of prostate cancer, testosterone deficiency, urinary tract symptoms, sexual dysfunction, infertility, and other common men's health concerns. This comprehensive multidisciplinary course brings together experts in urology, primary care, mental health, sleep medicine, infectious disease, nephrology, physical therapy, and related specialties to provide evidence-based updates and practical clinical guidance. Participants will gain strategies for the evaluation, treatment, referral, and long-term management of common and complex men's health conditions encountered in everyday practice. Designed for physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other members of the healthcare team, the program emphasizes clinically relevant, patient-centered approaches that support improved outcomes, interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhanced quality of care for men across the lifespan.

PROGRAM VENUE:
University of Washington Tower
Tower Auditorium
4333 Brooklyn Ave NE
Seattle, WA 98195

Objectives
  1. Apply current evidence and guideline-based recommendations for the screening, evaluation, management, and referral of patients with common men's health conditions, including prostate cancer, LUTS/BPH, hematuria, sexual dysfunction, infertility, testosterone deficiency, kidney stones, and non-urologic conditions like obstructive sleep apnea, obesity, hypertension, sexually transmitted infections.
  2. Integrate multidisciplinary perspectives to develop coordinated care plans that address the medical, psychological, and quality-of-life needs of men across the lifespan.
  3. Employ effective interprofessional communication and referral strategies to improve collaboration among primary care, nursing, urology, rehabilitation, mental health, and other members of the healthcare team.
  4. Implement evidence-based diagnostic and treatment approaches that support earlier identification of disease, appropriate specialty referral, and improved patient outcomes.
  5. Incorporate patient-centered counseling and shared decision-making techniques when discussing screening, treatment options, survivorship issues, and lifestyle interventions with patients and families.
  6. Describe the nurse’s role in assessment, patient education, care coordination, symptom management, and follow-up for men with urologic and reproductive health conditions to support safe, evidence-based, and team-based care.
