  • Review how to safely prescribe and use older diabetes medications.
  • Recognize physiology and mechanism of action, efficacy, safety, tolerability, managing side effects, dosing and administration of individual drugs.
  • Assess the cardiac and renal benefits or lack of cardiac benefits in these older medications.
  • Identify use in renal disease and liver disease.

Diabetes Medications Part 1: Use of Older Diabetes Medications with Focus on Cardiovascular and Renal Data

METHOD OF PARTICIPATION
In order to complete this activity, access to the internet and a device is required. You must receive a minimum passing score of 80% on each module post-test (max. 2 attempts) in order to receive your CME credit. Each module will have a required pre-test, followed by the educational content, a post-test and evaluation. It is important to know that once you have started the Post-Test (Examination), if you exit the Post-Test without responding to all questions, it will be counted as a failed attempt. Only two (2) attempts are permitted.

INTENDED AUDIENCE
This educational program is intended for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, residents and fellows in primary care.
