Overview

The 6th Annual Lead Management Update Symposium is designed to provide the learner with the most up-to-date review of cardiac implantable electronic device lead management. Topics covered include indications for lead extraction, clinical decision making in patients with CIED infections or lead malfunction. An in-depth review of indications for lead extraction will be covered, as well as a description of available tools and technology used for lead extraction. Experts in lead management and extraction will discuss cases which illustrate the educational goals. Didactic sessions will be combined with interactive case presentations.

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, physicians and health care givers will:


  1. Manage patients who experience CIED complications, including advisory or recall devices and infection.
  2. Recognize when to refer to a specialist.
  3. Describe updates in published literature, guidelines and consensus documents.
  4. Identify methods to prevent complications from CIEDs, to include reviewing the efficacy of lead extraction and appropriate device implantation.

Walk-in registrations incur a $25 administrative fee.

Continuing Medical Education at the University of Washington is a totally self-sustaining unit and does not depend on or receive public monies in support of its educational efforts. Course fees for this course are estimated to include transcript of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, access to online instructional materials, catering, taxes, faculty planning and salaries. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

The Office of Continuing Medical Education must receive written notification of your cancellation by November 22, 2019. A $75.00 processing fee will be deducted from refund requests received by this date. No refunds will be issued following November 22, 2019. The Office of Continuing Medical Education reserves the right to cancel this course twenty (20) days prior to the course date when a minimum enrollment is not met or for other reasons that prevent the University from holding the course. Each registrant will be notified by telephone followed by written notification and a full refund. The University of Washington is not responsible for any other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties. TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is designed for cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, advanced practice providers (ARNPs and PAs), nurses, cardiovascular technicians and primary care physicians.

ONLINE CONFERENCE MATERIALS
Syllabus material will be available online at uwcme.org (for conference registrants only) starting on December 2, 2019. Registrants may print and/or download the materials. A handout with the agenda and pages for note-taking will be provided at the conference (printed handouts of presentations will not be provided).

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Course activities are exclusively reserved for course attendees. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced. 

In consideration of other participants and speakers, please do not bring infants/children into conference sessions.
