Overview
Collaborative Care Skills for the Primary Care Provider (PCP) and Psychiatric Consultant is designed for providers working or planning to work with the Collaborative Care Model in their clinics, this activity provides foundational and advanced skills in Collaborative Care. The live/virtual course provides core skills training for all members of the integrated care clinical team -- clinical roles as they relate to workflow, patient engagement, interdisciplinary team communication, psychopharmacology and psychiatric consultation. Learners in the Primary Care Provider (PCP) role will complete either of these online training modules: 'AIMS Center Collaborative Care Model Training - PCP' or 'AIMS Center Collaborative Care Model Training - PCP Champion'. These focus on the role of the primary care provider and the skills it requires. Learners in the psychiatric consultant role will complete the online module: 'AIMS Center Collaborative Care Model Training - Psychiatric Consultant'. This modules addresses the role and skills of he psychiatric consultant. While a provider will hold only one of these roles in the Collaborative Care Model, it is important for each role to be able to understand and describe the responsibilities and challenges of the other physician role on the team, in order to be partners in implementing the Collaborative Care Model. Thus, we recommend that learners complete the modules for both roles. Modules consist of fully online content, including self-study lessons, case studies, practice activities, self assessment questions and further resources. Depending on a provider's clinic and personal experience with Collaborative Care, as well as the availability of a live session, a provider might complete one or both online modules, but not participate in the live component. Each can stand alone and also, build on one another, if taken in concert. The live/virtual course may be offered over several shorter sessions instead of a single day-long session. Providers may attend all or some of the sessions, depending on their role.
