Orthopaedic Grand Rounds is an opportunity for UW Orthopaedic faculty and residents to present new information, review current practice (standards of care) and present innovative research to orthopaedic surgery faculty, fellows, residents, staff, and orthopaedic surgeons in the local community. A few non-technical orthopaedic topics are required by the ACGME (e.g. professionalism) and orthopaedic topics are based on orthopaedic research, faculty experience and literature reviews. All topics are chosen to be directly applicable to the practice of orthopaedic surgery. In general each presentation consists of background/evolution of treatment, scientific basis, technical principles, clinical cases with current treatment methods and “pearls”, conclusion and discussion. We offer lecturers the ability to employ interactive questions and surveys during the presentation. So this is an interactive and collaborative educational process with practice-based clinical cases.
