The QI aka M and M conferences are opportunities for UW Orthopaedic faculty and residents to present detailed description, analysis and literature review of adverse surgical outcomes. Faculty, residents, and Fellows submit potential cases for presentation or discussion. The cases are then reviewed and individual cases chosen for presentation or discussion by the moderator. Case studies are presented in one of two formats: Formal presentations and discussions. Formal presentations consist of a slide presentation of case specifics, relevant images, and references in relevant literature. Discussion is less structured, involving a verbal description and analysis of the case. Attendees may ask questions, make suggestions, and give other feedback.

1. Identify "gold standards" of care, and develop awareness of controversies in diagnosis and care
2. Review latest information available from experts, research, and literature
3. Integrate new research into current practice to reach appropriate treatment decisions
