Sponsored by the Department of Bioethics & Humanities Grand Rounds at the University of Washington Medical Center and Harborview Ethics forums at Harborview Medical Center, the “Ethics Education Series” is designed to educate clinicians, researchers, students, and trainees about the ethical dimensions of the research and clinical enterprises of interest to the UW Medicine community and the general public. The overall goals of Ethics Education Series are to: 1) provide a review of new and ongoing ethical issues in the basic and health sciences; 2) reflect on the human dimensions of medicine and clinical care (story-telling, history, compassion, grief, etc.); and 3) introduce inter-disciplinary perspectives on issues in bioethics and the medical humanities and ask attendees about their changes as a result of the learning.

1. Discuss ethical, historical, and humanities issues relevant to clinical and research practices.
2. Integrate ethical reasoning and reflection into clinical and research practice.
3. Reflect upon the humanistic experiences of patients, research subjects, researchers, and clinicians, and make changes as a result of the learning.

Accreditation with Commendation: The University of Washington School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
