Savitha Subramanian, MD

Dr. Subramanian is a UW assistant professor in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition. She is actively involved in the care of patients with various endocrine/hormone problems as well as diabetes. Additionally she is also a provider in the Northwest Lipid Clinic where she sees patients with complex lipid (cholesterol/triglyceride) disorders. She is especially interested in lipid problems that arise in diabetes and HIV positivity. She also is involved in research dissecting mechanisms involved in metabolic alterations that occur in the liver and fat depot in obesity. 

Dr. Subramanian received her medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India in 1997. She returned to the United States to pursue internship and residency at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Carle Foundation Hospital). She then completed an endocrinology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2004, she moved to the Pacific Northwest to complete a second endocrinology fellowship at the University of Washington, where she has been on the faculty since 2010 as assistant professor. She is board certified in endocrinology and metabolism. 

She is an active member of The Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.
