Alison Bays, MD

Dr. Alison Bays is a rheumatologist and associate program director in the Rheumatology Division at the University of Washington. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by two years in the Peace Corps as a science teacher in Malawi. Following that, she obtained her medical degree and master’s of public health from Tulane University School of Medicine and School of Public Health.  After medical school, she completed internal medicine residency at the University of Washington followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a clinician-educator who works primarily at Harborview and is interested in medical education, quality improvement, musculoskeletal ultrasound and is currently researching the effects of TNF inhibitors on viral loads.
