  1. Teaching Responsibilities

2012-              Cardiology Inpatient Service Attending. Supervise four 2nd and/or 3rd year Internal Medicine residents and sub-Interns in the work-up and management of critically ill and floor status (telemetry) patients, and giving teaching rounds.  Provide procedural training in the placement of central lines, including pulmonary artery catheters, the management of pacemakers (temporary and permanent), intra-aortic balloon pumps, and in the interpretation of telemetry and ECGs.

2012-              Cardiology Consult Service Attending. Supervise a cardiology fellow, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia R1s, as well as 1-3 4th year medical and physician-assistant students, providing guidance in patient care and giving formal teaching sessions.  Includes intensive ECG review.

2012-              Cardiac Catheterization Lab Attending. Supervise 1-2 cardiology fellows per week in performing diagnostic coronary angiography, left and right heart catheterizations, placing temporary transvenous pacemakers and intra-aortic balloon pumps, and performing pericardiocenteses.

2012-2016              Palliative Care Consult service Attending. Supervise and educate the team of 0-1 Palliative Care fellow, 1 Internal Medicine 2nd or 3rd year resident, 1 4th year medical students, and at times an ANRP and SW student in symptom management and medical decision making in patients with severe illness with uncertain outcome. Provide training in narrative medicine, communication skills with patients and their families and in running family meetings and care conferences.

2013- 2016              Outpatient Palliative Care Consult Attending. Supervise and educate 1 RN and up to 1 palliative medicine fellow in narrative medicine in order to ascertain patient goals of care, and to screen for and manage symptoms  in all domains identified in palliative care: social, emotional, spiritual, physical while assisting to facilitate communication and coordinate care as needed.
