About Ellen Schur:

Dr. Ellen Schur, MD, MS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Schur completed her medical degree at Stanford University in 1999 and her medical residency at UW in 2002. She received an M.S. in Epidemiology in 2008 from UW. She currently sees patients at the UW Medicine Weight Loss Management Center at the UW Medical Center. Dr. Schur also teaches and mentors medical students, physician fellows, and graduate students who are interested in clinical research on obesity.

Dr. Schur is the Co-Director of the UW Medicine Weight Loss Management Center, which provides comprehensive weight loss options to patients. She is also the Co-Director of the Adipose Tissue and Obesity Core of the UW Nutrition and Obesity Research Center. Her research on brain regulation of appetite has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Schur has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in well-known scientific journals, such as the Journal of Clinical Investigation, Diabetes, International Journal of Obesity, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
