Misbah Keen, MD, MBI, MPH

Misbah Keen is an Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) at University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM). He obtained his medical degree from Government Medical College in Srinagar, India and completed a family medicine residency in Toledo, OH. He also completed a Masters in Bio-Medical Informatics from Oregon Heath and Science University in Portland OR and Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.


As the Vice Chair of Education, Dr. Keen oversees the operation of Family Medicine Medical Student Education section and also advises the Chair of DFM on all educational matters (UME, GME and PA education). The Medical Student Education Section is one of the largest in the country and has over 100 teaching sites in the five state WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region.


Dr. Keen has served on several national medical educational committees including currently the Medical Education Committee of STFM (Society for Teachers of Family Medicine). His research and scholarship interests are in areas of communication skills and use of technology in medicine. Dr. Keen became the fellow of AAFP in 2007 and has won two Golden Apple Awards for his teaching. He has had a number of leadership roles in the ongoing curriculum renewal process at UWSOM.
