Maureen Chomko, RD, CDE

Maureen received her Nutrition degree from Drexel University and completed her dietetic internship at UCSF Medical Center. Following this, she worked at UCSF as an inpatient clinical dietitian. She began working as a dietitian at the University of Washington Neighborhood Clinics in 2012.

Soon after, she became a Certified Diabetes Educator. Partnering with the UW Diabetes Care Center, she developed diabetes education class series at three primary care clinics in the greater King County area distanced from UW Medical Center. Her publication on this collaboration to improve patient access to diabetes education recently received a Publications Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Most recently, she has been working for Neighborcare Health in South Seattle, where she assists in diabetes management and counseling for underserved populations.

She serves on the editorial board of the Diabetes Spectrum journal and assists in the production of patient educational materials for the American Diabetes Association. Her chapter on Nutrition Therapy for Adults with Type 2 Diabetes was recently published in the American Diabetes Association’s Guide to Nutrition Therapy for Diabetes. But most importantly, on weekends, she performs improv comedy at Comedysportz Seattle in the Fremont neighborhood.
